Health & Safety

Our commitment to safe working

Health and safety is managed as a core part of how Midwest Construction delivers work, not a separate function bolted on afterwards. Our safety management systems are independently audited against CHAS Elite and ISO 45001, and hold SafeContractor accreditation — alongside ISO 9001 certification for quality management.

No project is so urgent that it cannot be done safely. The sections below set out how that commitment is put into practice on site — from induction through to the training and competence we expect of every operative.

How We Manage Safety On Site

Site Induction

Every operative attending a Midwest site completes a site-specific induction before starting work, covering site rules, welfare, emergency procedures, and the hazards particular to that project.

RAMS

Risk Assessments and Method Statements are prepared for every activity before it begins, identifying hazards and setting out the safe sequence of work. RAMS are reviewed and signed off by the site team and briefed to the gang carrying out the task.

Toolbox Talks

Regular toolbox talks keep safety live on site — reinforcing RAMS content, flagging changes in conditions, and giving operatives a direct route to raise concerns before they become incidents.

Training & Competence

Every operative working on a Midwest site is expected to hold the CSCS card appropriate to their trade, evidencing that they have the training and knowledge to work safely in construction. Plant and crane operators hold CPCS (or equivalent NPORS) certification specific to the equipment they operate, alongside the manufacturer and lift-planning competence required for tower crane work.

CSCS card membership across all site trades
CPCS / NPORS certification for plant and crane operators
Site-specific induction before first entering a live site
Ongoing toolbox talks and RAMS briefings for every task
