Lancaster Street is a residential development in Birmingham’s growing residential quarter, delivered for main contractor Winvic. Midwest delivered the reinforced concrete frame for the new housing scheme.
The Package
The frame package covered formwork erected to the engineer’s design, reinforcement fixed to specification, and concrete placed and cured across each level, sequenced to Winvic’s programme as the building rose. Residential frames of this kind are built around repeating floor plates — the same core, the same bay layout, storey after storey — which means the pour cycle can be tightened as it goes, with lessons from the first few levels carried into a steadier rhythm for the rest of the building.
Lancaster Street is one of two projects Midwest has delivered for Winvic, alongside the Gala Bingo development in Nottingham — a relationship covering both residential and commercial sectors in the Midlands.
