Wirral Waters

Wirral Waters is a 500-apartment residential development across six blocks in Birkenhead, part of the wider regeneration of the Wirral Waters area. Graham Construction engaged Midwest to deliver both the groundworks and the reinforced concrete frame as a single package — substructure and superstructure under one subcontract, rather than split across separate trades.

The Package

The groundworks scope covered foundations, ground-bearing slabs, and the below-ground drainage and services runs needed before the frame could rise. From there, Midwest’s teams moved into the RC frame itself: formwork, reinforcement fixing, and concrete placement repeated across six blocks, sequenced so each one progressed through its own pour cycle without holding up the others or the trades following behind — brick and block, façade, and internal fit-out.

Combining groundworks and structures under one package removes an interface that often causes friction on multi-block residential jobs, and it’s part of why Graham Construction has now brought Midwest onto six schemes in this portfolio, from Wirral Waters through to sites in Liverpool, Manchester, and Birmingham.
