Mossley Hill Hospital

Mossley Hill Hospital is a healthcare facility development in the south Liverpool suburb of the same name. Midwest delivered the reinforced concrete structural package for the scheme, working for main contractor Graham Construction.

The Package

The frame scope covered formwork, reinforcement fixing, and concrete placement across the building structure, sequenced to Graham Construction’s programme. Healthcare buildings tend to carry a denser mix of building services than most commercial or residential frames — more risers, more penetrations, more coordination with the M&E design — which means cast-in provisions and tolerances have to be right first time, since retrofitting a healthcare frame is far more disruptive than on a typical office or residential job.

Mossley Hill Hospital is one of six schemes Midwest has delivered for Graham Construction, and the only healthcare facility among them — evidence the relationship extends beyond a single sector.
