Oldham Road is a mixed-use development in Manchester. Midwest delivered the complete RC frame and groundworks package for main contractor GMI Construction — substructure and superstructure under a single subcontract.
The Package
The groundworks scope covered foundations, ground slabs, and the drainage and services runs needed ahead of the frame, before Midwest’s teams moved into the RC structure itself: formwork, reinforcement fixing, and concrete placement across the building. Mixed-use schemes often combine different uses on different floors, which can mean a transfer structure where the grid changes between levels — a detail that has to be planned into the pour sequence rather than treated as a standard repeating floor.
Oldham Road is one of two schemes Midwest has delivered for GMI Construction, alongside Bendix Street elsewhere in Manchester — a repeat instruction from the same main contractor within the city.
